FUNimation put up a second clip back on Monday sampling Soul Eater's dub. This time it is a clip from episode 2, so we get to hear Black Star and Tsubaki in action.

Aoi Bungaku Series | First Impressions
The next new series to grace my presence is Madhouse's Aoi Bungaku Series (Blue Literature Series). After last year's Mōryō no Hako (Box of Goblins), it is great to see Madhouse adapting more literary works. This time though, they are adapting six separate works by four different authors. Different staffs are adapting each story, and in addition, three Shonen Jump artists are designing the characters. Takeshi Obata (Death Note, Hikaru no Go) is designing for two stories; Tite Kubo (Bleach) is designing for three stories; and Takeshi Konomi (The Prince of Tennis) will be designing for one story.
Fullmetal Alchemist, Volume 20 Review (MV)
It has been a little while, but my most recent Manga Village @ Comics Village review is now available. This time, the review covers the latest volume of Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist.
You may read the review by transmuting your way here.
Interesting tidbit: This is the volume on which the currently airing Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was first announced in Japan.

Kūchū Buranko (Trapeze) | First Impressions
An example of some of the rotoscoping this series uses.
Without a doubt, if anything else this series will definitely be by and far the most visually impressive series out this season, if not the most in a real long while. Much like he did with Mononoke, Kenji Nakamura delivers his brilliantly unique directing style with such mastery, and also like with Mononoke, the animation style of this series really is quite literally unlike anything you've ever seen. Granted a lot of it is quite obviously rotoscoped (that is, taking live action shots and animating them up within an animated world), which let's be honest, isn't something that hasn't been done before, but that doesn't make it any less amazing to watch. But along with some of the impressive rotoscoping that is utilized, I'm more impressed with just the sheer amount of innovativeness of the art style, which can always be expected from the same people that did Mononoke. I think for me the most impressive thing to look at were the paper cut-out visions of all the background people. Simply put, this series from the previews looked very, very impressively trippy and odd yet highly innovative, and visually, I must say it definitely delivered in that area.

Fairy Tail | First Impressions
Luffy..... oh, sorry, I mean uhh.... Natsu prepares for the big battle!!
Truth be told what had initially gotten me to want to give this series a watch was how similar I've heard it was to One Piece. And given that I am a pretty darn huge One Piece fan, not to mention shounen fan in general, I naturally felt the need to check it out. Even though certain people had specifically used the word "ripoff" or "plagiarism" in regards to it's similarities to One Piece, I essentially disregarded them as the typical shounen fare in the sense of complaints about one shounen series being way too similar to another.

Kämpfer | First Impressions (Episodes 1 & 2)
I never planned to watch this series in the first place, but I was bored and needed something to watch. Slypheristic told me on Twitter that I should watch Kämpfer, so I decided to give the show a cursory look. I still needed to find my guilty pleasure series for this season anyway.
Free fan service is a nice perk for a guy who is also a girl.
So nice that it is enviable.

Kimi ni Todoke (Anime) | First Impressions
Production I.G's latest series, Kimi ni Todoke, was the next to try and worm its way into my affections. Being an adaptation of Karuho Shiina's popular manga, the question is: Is it a good adaptation?
They nailed moments like this one, so that's a good start.
Sasameki Koto | First Impressions
OK, it is a new week, so it is time to get back to work, as it were.
The next new show to cross my path was the yuri title Sasameki Koto (Whispered Words). Did it get off to a good start?

Hm. A bookish, glasses-wearing lesbian with long, dark hair.
Where have I seen THAT before?
......
Oh ... right.

Monster English Dub | First Impressions
Twelve clips are available on Manga.com of Monster's English dub. Head here to check them out.
I watched all 12 clips (each running from around two to two-and-a-half minutes each) and I am very pleased. We get to hear what many of the major players sound like. We hear Dr. Tenma, Detective Lunge, Eva Hienemann, Nina Fortner/Anna Liebert, Johan Liebert and several others.

Kobato. | First Impressions
Next to grace my television screen is Madhouse's latest CLAMP-related anime, Kobato.. Is it a charming dose of fluff, or is it an irritating one?
Kobato's toughest test: Crowd control.

Miracle Train | First Impressions
The next series I climbed aboard was the bishonen fest Miracle Train ~Oedo-sen e Yokoso~ (Welcome to the Oedo Line). Was the train ride a smooth one, or did it crash an burn?
Ms. Chinastu is, amazingly, unfazed by the
"reverse harem" that she has found herself in.

The Sacred Blacksmith | First Impressions
The next series to cut into my sacred time is Manglobe's latest, The Sacred Blacksmith. Their reputation has taken a bit of a hit lately, as their output has been progressively getting worse even since they created the hit series Samurai Champloo (2004). Ergo Proxy (2006) is a good series, but not as good as it could have been as it dabbled in pretense far too much. Michiko and Hatchin (2008), Manglobe's previous (and by far weakest) effort, also squandered its potential. It had so much going for it too as great production values, a well-researched setting, and slick direction from promising rookie director Sayo Yamamoto were destroyed by disappointingly limp writing. Now Manglobe is actually adapting something rather than creating something original like they have in the past; and what they are adapting didn't appear to be all that interesting at first glance. The question is: Have they gotten back on track?

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun | First Impressions
A Certain Scientific Railgun was the second series to the run the gauntlet. Did it come out unscathed?
Kuroko and her lesbian antics ... She doesn't know when to quit.
Not that it is a bad thing, however.

Tatakau Shisho - The Book of Bantorra | First Impressions
The first victim show to cross my path this season is none other than Tatakau Shisho (Armed Librarians) - The Book of Bantorra. Is it any good? Let's find out, shall we?
As expected, Romi Paku's Hamyuts is to die for,
despite the fact that she acts rather childish at times.
